Art of Collaborative Leadership for Social Change Leaders in Israel

In 2010, Rockwood was invited by progressive leaders in Israel to bring the Art of Collaborative Leadership to people working on a wide range of issues and sectors. We support those working for full equality for all peoples in Israel and for a fair civil society. Rockwood stands with those working to end the Occupation and the oppression of Palestinians.

In partnership with Shatil, Rockwood Leadership Institute is proud to announce the third cohort of a unique program to support social change leaders in Israel.


Art of Collaborative Leadership

The Art of Collaborative Leadership is an intensive five-day retreat workshop in which participants will hone skills related to articulating vision, managing difficult conversations, and identifying personal leadership strengths and challenges.  A unique leadership training experience, the Art of Collaborative Leadership provides NGO leaders with:

  • An opportunity for reflection and introspection to explore the personal, professional, emotional and ideological aspects of leadership.
  • A learning community to practice vital tools such as active listening, speaking in public, providing and receiving feedback, building partnerships and conducting “courageous” conversations.
  • A safe space for reflection, learning and exploring social tensions, building trust and openness amongst participants and with the trainers.
  • A beautiful retreat setting in the desert, away from everyday tasks and concerns to recharge batteries, network with colleagues and fellow leaders.

Participant Criteria

Rockwood's optimal criteria for enrollment in Art of Collaborative Leadership include a cohort of leaders who:
  • Are engaged in social change work in Israel for at least 5 years – including Executive Directors, Board members, etc.
  • Play a decision-making/leadership role within their organization.
  • Can benefit from the skills offered and have space for reflection at this point in their professional lives.
  • Have experience with cross-strategy collaboration and desire to strengthen such work
  • Are open to contribute respectfully to a multicultural learning community that reflects a diversity of issues, strategies, geography and community foci
  • Will make the full time commitment to the program

    José is president of New World Consulting and an expert in the development of leadership skills and the creation of high-performing organizations. José has spent the last 25 years working with a broad range of organizations to help them function innovatively in pursuit of specific mission-critical results.


    Toby Lynn Herzlich

    Toby is a facilitator and trainer with a background in community development, organizational excellence, conflict resolution and participatory strategic planning. Her work focuses on developing leadership within progressive nonprofits, supporting values-based planning in grassroots organizations and cultivating visionary leadership among women.

    Fees

    The actual value of the program is approximately 18,300nis per person. As this program is generously supported by the Nathan Cummings Foundation and the Social Justice Fund, Rockwood requests a nominal participant fee of 1500nis per person. Payment may be made online with a credit card, or through a wire transfer to Rockwood. Discounts and stipends available on a case-by-case basis.
